This year, we had much to be grateful for, and we made every effort to foster an environment that demonstrated appreciation, respect, love, and support for each other.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was a busy day of preparing our Thanksgiving meal which consisted of Turkey, Ham, Yams, Green Bean Casserole, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy and Rolls. Thomas loves to cook and ensures the turkey is both flavorful and cooked to perfection. Thankfully this year we did not have a turkey escape and recreate the near crisis of years past. Mason with the help of some of the boys manned the mashed potato station to ensure the potatoes were mashed and ready on-time.

While our Thanksgiving day "Chefs" were working hard in the kitchen some of the boys were in and out helping where they could. The rest were spending time in the living room relaxing and enjoying the Macy's Parade before watching the entirety of the Dog Show! Everyone sat down and ate an early dinner and talked about what we are all thankful for before moving on to watch some football before moving outdoors to play our own Thanksgiving Day football game.
RTH Days of Christmas
This year our Christmas Elf Buddy returned from the North Pole and he was very entertaining this year. The boys loved seeing what tricks and messes that he could make each day. The boys all understood the rules of the Elf but..... someone decided to touched him. Buddy then had to take a day away at the spa to recharge his magic. He was dearly missed while he was away and thankfully he didn't require anymore spa days.
We planned our Days of Christmas again this year. Our activities included: Christmas slipper sock day, paper chains, making snowman ornaments, decorating the tree, decorating stockings, snowball games and snowball express movie night, Christmas cookie making, Elf movie and coco bar, youth gift exchange and of course CHRISTMAS!
Christmas morning began with a change to our tradition of IHOP and we decided to make a large hot breakfast at home instead. To pull off a large breakfast in a timely manner so that the boys could wake up, eat and get to the gift opening we had to be organized with clear roles and battle stations:
Laura - Pancake station | Mason - Egg station | Mike - Bacon station | Trevor - Floater
Everyone sat down and enjoyed breakfast together and talked for a little while before we began to migrate to the living room. The boys all opened their stockings and got a picture with Santa before we began the main event! For those who do not know we open one gift at a time starting youngest to oldest so that everyone can see what gifts were received. This takes times which is why we wanted to have such a nice breakfast to manage our hunger and focus. The boys all did great and did not rush through opening gifts and were appreciative!
Now our Teaching Parents are tasked with getting the boys ready to get back into the school routine but, what is going to be the bigger challenge is to start saying and writing 2026!
We hope everyone had a memorable and safe holiday season.
